Displays are the main focus of consumer electronics. These interactive interfaces with touch function and 3D capabilities are dominating the value of modern communication and entertainment devices such as tablets, smartphones and TVs. High resolution, brilliant colors, low power consumption and high refresh rate require new technologies for more powerful and efficient TFTs. LCD displays have been based on amorphous silicon (a-Si) for the past 20 years. Yielding low electron mobility a-Si has become the bottleneck in moving forward to high end IPS LCD and AMOLED displays. Polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) manufactured by TCZ’s laser crystallization systems provide next generation TFTs with highest electron mobility combined with reliable, uniform transistor performance.

Displays consist of color pixels. Each pixel can be independently controlled by underlying transistors (TFT). Transistor channels made of polycrystalline silicon provide the efficiency required for high end displays.
