Robert P. Akins, Ph.D. Robert P. Akins, Ph.D., one of Cymer's co-founders, has served as its chairman and chief executive officer since its inception in 1986, and served as president of the company as well from its inception until May 2000. He currently serves on the boards of directors of SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International) and SEMI North America. He is also a member of the council of advisors to the Irwin and Joan Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and serves on the board of the UC San Diego Foundation. Akins received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for San Diego County in 1997, and with fellow co-founder Rick Sandstrom, received the outstanding alumnus award from UCSD, and the prestigious SEMI Award for North America, the highest honor conferred by SEMI, in 1996 for contributions to the field of DUV lithography. He received a bachelor's degree in physics, a bachelor's degree in literature, and a doctorate in applied physics from the University of California, San Diego.

Edward J. Brown, Jr. Edward J. Brown, Jr. serves as president and chief operating officer with nearly three decades of experience in the technology sector. Prior to his appointment at Cymer, Brown held several high-level management positions at Applied Materials, Inc., the world's largest provider of semiconductor equipment and services. At Applied Materials, Brown was responsible for key business innovations, overseeing global operations, managing business units and enabling significant revenue growth. He served as group vice president of global business operations and, as senior advisor to the president. Brown also served as vice president and general manager for Applied Material's Intel business unit, as well as managing director, heading up their largest product division-global operations. Brown also served as director of manufacturing and held a variety of manufacturing and engineering-related management positions. Prior to Applied Materials, Inc., Brown held key engineering positions at TRW Corporation and Burroughs Corporation. Brown holds a master's degree in business administration from National University and a bachelor's degree in industrial studies from San Diego State University.

Richard L. Sandstrom, Ph.D. Richard L. Sandstrom, Ph.D., a co-founder of the company, currently serves as the senior vice president and chief technical advisor responsible for providing technical analysis to the Office of the CTO and carrying out focused technical investigations. Prior to his current position, Sandstrom served as senior vice president and chief technical officer since January 1999. Since the company's inception, he has served under various titles in the areas of research, development and technology, including vice president of advanced research and vice president of technology, and has been instrumental in driving Cymer's technology innovation. Sandstrom, with fellow co-founder Bob Akins, received the outstanding alumnus award from UCSD, and the prestigious SEMI Award for North America, the highest honor conferred by SEMI, in 1996 for contributions to the field of DUV lithography. He received a bachelor's degree in physics and a doctorate in engineering physics from the University of California, San Diego.

Nancy J. Baker Nancy J. Baker, has served as senior vice president and chief financial officer since January 2002. Prior to that, she served as vice president, finance and treasurer from June 1998 to December 2001. During 2000, she headed the company's successful effort to implement a new ERP system, which was implemented in San Diego in only six months, and globally in only nine months. From October 1996 to June 1998 she served as director, corporate finance and treasurer. She joined Cymer as corporate controller for worldwide operations in August 1992. Nancy's professional career spans more than 20 years, and prior to joining Cymer, she held a variety of financial management positions with an international manufacturer in the San Diego area. Nancy received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985 and completed the executive advanced management program (AMP) at Harvard Business School in 1999.

William Partlo, Ph.D. William Partlo, Ph.D., currently serves as a senior vice president and chief technical officer. In this role, Partlo is responsible for managing and defining the technical direction for the company and its intersection with required products to meet the demands of the semiconductor marketplace. Prior to serving as the CTO for Cymer, Partlo has held various positions in research and technology development including; research scientist, senior scientist and most recently senior fellow in the Office of the CTO. Prior to joining Cymer in 1993, Partlo served as a staff scientist at GCA/TROPEL Inc., in Rochester, New York. Partlo holds a doctorate and master's degree, both in engineering, from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Stephan D. Spiva Stephan D. Spiva, serves as Cymer's senior vice president of Corporate Operations where he is responsible for developing and executing all activities of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, including Logistics and Corporate Facilities. Spiva brings more than 35 years of management experience to Cymer, including 20 years with the U.S. Navy. Before joining Cymer, Spiva served as vice president of enterprise solutions at Applied Materials, Inc. from June 1998 until his retirement in June 2001, and during this time he implemented the Oracle ERP system for manufacturing and order fulfillment business processes. His expertise includes, but is not limited to, "on-the-line" experience with materials management, logistics, production, production engineering, installation and field support. From March 1988 to June 1998 Spiva served at Applied Materials in various management positions including managing director of global Installed Base operations, senior director of Intel account operations, and director of the advanced manufacturing group. Spiva is APICS and CIRM certified and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.

Rae Ann Werner Rae Ann Werner has served as vice president, controller, and chief accounting officer since January 2003. Prior to that, she served as Cymer's Controller from February 1999 to January 2003. From 1993 to 1999 she held a variety of finance positions with increasing responsibilities since joining Cymer in November 1993. Ms. Werner's professional career spans more than 18 years, and prior to joining Cymer, she held a variety of financial positions with semiconductor and communications companies in the San Diego area. Ms. Werner received a bachelor's degree in accounting from San Diego State University in 1987.
